Owner Terry Schumacher said she thought the 2lb pooch was a RAT when she first set eyes on him.

But the 14-year-old Chinese crested-Chihuahua is now a part of her family — munching the same food as his owners and accompanying her to work in her job as a dog groomer.

This was the 23rd annual World's Ugliest Dog contest, which helps raise awareness for rescue dogs.

Some of the other finalists had no eyes, missing limbs and were of all shapes and sizes.

Last year's winner, a one-eyed Chihuahua called Princess Abby, also took part but missed out on the top prize.
