Excited Tiger Woods moving soon into his $60 million Florida mansion

tiger woods florida mansion

Tiger Woods, the pro golfer who divorced on August 23 last year with Elin Nordegren, is now preparing to move into his sprawling 10-acre oceanfront mansion in Florida, which flaunts its own four-hole golf course. Elin Nordegren got a reported $110 million settlement from her cheating ex, but that doesn’t mean that the golfer is short on cash, with his lavish estate in exclusive Jupiter Island, Florida valued at about $60 million. Woods revealed his plans of moving into his new mansion on his blog, and he seems pretty excited. He said…

Pretty soon, I’ll be moving into my new home in Jupiter, Fla. I’m excited about that and even more excited about my new practice facility. It’s phenomenal.

The golfer’s Jupiter Island Practice Facility features four greens, six bunkers with different depths and kinds of sand, a video center and a putting studio. Before Woods got divorced, the couple spent a lot of time planning details of the 10,000 square foot luxury home. The estate comes with a tennis court, gym, diving pool, lap lane and a 100-foot running track. The house has large windows that offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The architects’ plans say that the basement has a large wine cellar and perhaps a cinema and games area. The four buildings around the main house include a boathouse, golf training studio, a stand-alone garage and a big guesthouse.

Tiger Woods purchased the property in January 2006 for $44.5 million and then, tore down the existing house and rebuilt it.

I’m 17 and 22” tall

Balawing, just 22 inches tall">
Set for stardom ... 17-year-old Junrey
Balawing, just 22 inches tall

MEET Junrey Balawing, the Filipino who is about to become the world's smallest man - and a huge star.

At just 22 INCHES high, the 17-year-old is tinier than a one-year-old.

When he turns 18 on June 12, he will take the title - smashing five inches off the current record.

The titchy teen has not grown since his first birthday, struggles to walk and cannot stand up for long.

But he beams with pride when talking about his likely world record.

He said: "If I were the smallest man in the world, it would be very cool."

Junrey lives with his parents and three younger - but taller - siblings in a village in a remote region of the Phillipines' Zamboanga del Norte province.

He has to stay at home with his mum, Concepcion, while his sisters Jaycel, 13, and Jeanritch, six, and 11-year-old brother Jay-art go to school.

Concepcion, 35, says: "He needs my care every minute of every day. Junrey can only walk with some help and he can't stand for too long because he's in too much pain."

His parents carry him around much of the time. Blacksmith dad Reynaldo, 37, works away for most of the week but when he is home Junrey enjoys sitting on his shoulders and going for a wander in the village.

Concepcion noticed her son's growth was stunted as he neared his second birthday.

She said: "He was always sick and we noticed he wasn't growing so we took him to see a doctor but they were baffled."

When Junrey was 12 the same doctor advised the family to give him vitamins - but they could not afford them.

Despite his size, Junrey has a healthy appetite, tucking in to chunks of breads and corn. His fading green and white birth certificate - proving he was born in 1993 - takes pride of place in the family home.

He has learnt to write and draw and, when he can, he helps out at the family's basic yet comfortable farmhouse, feeding their chicken.

Concepcion added: "I would love to be able to work while my other children are at school but I can't leave Junrey.

"But he loves it when I tell him he's the smallest man in the world, he just smiles with pride."

The current title holder is Khagendra Thapa Magar, of Nepal, who is 26.4in tall.

Even before winning the record, Khagendra, born in a remote village, had become a household name on the Indian subcontinent.

He turned 18 in October, taking the title from 27in Edward Nino Hernandez - who had only been awarded it eight days before.

The battle for the title had begun after the previous record-holder He Pingping from China died of a heart attack aged 21 in March last year.

A Guinness World Records spokesman said last night: "We are looking to review the claim when Junrey Balawing turns 18, which is when candidates for this title can officially apply for the record."

Hatice Kocaman, 21, from Turkey, is the world's smallest woman, at just 28in tall.

She suffers from a rare bone disorder which means she weighs only 15lb.

At just over 28in, American Stacey Herald is the world's smallest mum.

The 36-year-old, from Kentucky, has three kids with hubby Wil, 27, who is 5ft 9in.

Factbox: Forbes top 10 richest people in the world

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim is the richest person in the world for the second year in a row, Forbes said on Wednesday.

Here is the Forbes 2011 ranking of the top 10:

1. Carlos Slim (Mexico) - $74 billion, telecommunications

Slim, 71, first showed a business talent as a 10-year-old selling drinks and snacks to his family. After studying engineering, he founded a real estate company and worked as a trader on the Mexican stock exchange. Cigar-smoking Slim is known for a "Midas touch" in acquiring struggling firms and turning them into cash cows.

His enormous wealth contrasts starkly with his frugal lifestyle. He has lived in the same house for about 40 years and drives an aging Mercedes Benz, although it is armored and trailed by bodyguards.

He has become involved in combating poverty, illiteracy and poor healthcare in Latin America and promotes sports projects for the poor, but has never voiced plans to give away large chunks of his wealth to charity.

2. Bill Gates (USA) - $56 billion, Microsoft

Sensing the start of a personal computer revolution, Gates, 55, dropped out of Harvard University in 1975 to start Microsoft and pursue a vision of a computer on every desk and in every home. Microsoft went public in 1986 and by the next year, the soaring stock made Gates, at age 31, the youngest self-made billionaire.

In 2008 he stepped down from what is now the world's largest software firm to work at The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He has given $28 billion to it.

Together with his wife Melinda and Warren Buffett, he has also convinced 57 U.S. billionaires to sign up to the Giving Pledge and publicly vow to give away at least 50 percent of their fortune during their lifetime or upon their death.

3. Warren Buffett (USA) - $50 billion, Berkshire Hathaway

Buffett, 80, has run his Omaha, Nebraska-based conglomerate since 1965. Its interests run from railroads to ice cream.

In 2006 he pledged to give away 99 percent of his wealth to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and family charities. So far he has given $8 billion to the Gates Foundation.

4. Bernard Arnault (France) - $41 billion, LVMH

Arnault, 62, a friend of French president Nicolas Sarkozy, was educated at the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique and joined his father's construction company at 25. He earned the reputation of a ruthless corporate raider after pushing out shareholder rivals when he started building the LVMH group in the 1990s with the Louis Vuitton, Moet and Hennessy brands.

It is now the world's biggest luxury goods group. His image as a predator stuck to him afterward when he fought in vain to acquire Gucci in 1999 and 2000. Then this week he snapped up Roman jeweler Bulgari for $5.18 billion.

5. Larry Ellison (USA) - $39.5 billion, Oracle Corp

Ellison, the flamboyant Oracle founder and CEO, is known for his free, public outbursts against rivals such as German software maker SAP AG. The executive, supposedly a model for the "Iron Man" movie character Tony Stark, late last year attacked Hewlett Packard and its board for the abrupt and -- he said -- unfair sacking of longtime friend Mark Hurd. Ellison then hired him.

Ellison, who won yachting's America's Cup last year, is considered one of the "old guard" of Silicon Valley.

6. Lakshmi Mittal (India) - $31.1 billion, steel

London-based steel tycoon Mittal, 60, runs ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel manufacturer.

Mittal's firm is largely funding a $29 million spiraling red tower, designed by Turner prize-winning artist Anish Kapoor and taller than New York's Statue of Liberty, that will soar over London's Olympic Park for the 2012 games.

In 2005 he spent $10 million to promote sporting talent and encourage potential Olympians in his homeland after he was disappointed by India's lone medal at the Athens Games.

7. Amancio Ortega (Spain) - $31 billion, retail

Amancio Ortega, 74, started his clothing business in the 1960s making dressing gowns in his garage in La Coruna. His company Inditex owns the Zara fashion house and is now the world's biggest clothing retailer. Ortega closely guards his privacy and does not give media interviews. He announced in January that he plans to step down as chairman of the company.

8. Eike Batista (Brazil) - $30 billion, mining, oil

A half-German college dropout who for years struggled to emerge from the shadow of his well-known father, Batista has long said he wants nothing less than to be Brazil's and the world's richest person. Everything about the 53-year-old -- from the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren sports car he keeps as decoration in his parlor to the "X" in the name of all his companies that represents wealth multiplication -- screams of unashamed ambition.

A top-class speedboat racer who was married to a famous Rio de Janeiro Carnival queen, Batista dined with U.S. pop star Madonna in Rio last year and, according to local reports, handed her a check over dinner for $7 million as a donation for her social projects.

He has a burning ambition to transform Rio into a modern, thriving city. Just before Rio was awarded the 2016 Olympic Games, he bought up a nearby marina that will be a hub of the games -- an example of his eye for a well timed deal.

9. Mukesh Ambani (India) - $27 billion, petrochemicals, oil and gas

A chemical engineer by training, Mukesh, 53, dropped out of an MBA from Stanford University and joined Reliance in 1981.

Mukesh, who said in 2009 he would take a two-thirds pay cut after the Indian prime minister's comments on "vulgar salaries," gave his wife a private jet on her birthday. He also splashed out $1 billion on a 27-story home. He has a volatile relationship with his younger brother Anil, and they have fought over interests from oil and gas, retail, telecoms, entertainment, financial services to infrastructure.

10. Christy Walton & family (USA) - $26.5 billion, Wal-Mart

Christy Walton is the widow of John Walton, who was the son of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. Sam Walton built the global Wal-Mart empire from a single dime store in Arkansas. It is now the world's largest retailer.

Budak terumbu karang di China

TUBUH badan Li Shenghan kelihatan seperti terumbu karang.

- Agensi

The rise of the ultra-yacht

Super-sized yachts

Mega yacht 'Eclipse' leaving the dock in Germany. Photo: Getty

With two helicopter landing pads and a German missile-defence system, the mega-yacht owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is just too big to be real, but it is.

The Eclipse is stunning, a real eyeful. The sleek, white mega-yacht is the world's largest and most expensive private yacht at 557 feet (169.77 metres), or more than 1 1/2 football fields. It cost an estimated $US1.2 billion ($A1.19 billion) and is the world's ultimate ultra-yacht.

The yacht is owned by the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. He owns the Chelsea FC soccer team in England and earned his fortune in Russian oil and commodities.

The 44-year-old Abramovich is generally listed as the 50th richest person in the world.

The ship's features include two helicopter landing pads, a hangar for two helicopters, a 50-foot (15.24 metres) launch, a German missile-defence system, underwater motion-and-heat sensors and - if rumours are true - anti-paparazzi lasers to protect Abramovich's privacy.

No one seems to know whether such an anti-paparazzi shield really exists. According to English media, the Eclipse is equipped with lasers that sweep surroundings and when they detect a digital camera, they shine a bright light at the camera to prevent photographs.

The bridge and Abramovich's master suite are fitted with bulletproof glass and both are armour-plated. There are intruder-detection systems aboard.

Its 12-seat anti-piracy submarine would be launched through a hatch in the ship's hull and it could dive to about 160 feet (48.77 metres).

Exactly what features the Eclipse may contain are difficult to say. The ship was built under great secrecy and many details have been widely reported but not confirmed.

I encountered the Eclipse in two Caribbean ports: Bridgetown on Barbados and Philipsburg on the Dutch side of the island of St Maarten.

The ship is an awesome sight on the water. It says megabucks. It was a major topic of conversation among cruise ships in the Caribbean, leading to numerous Google searches by passengers.

It has guest cabins (most reports say 11 or 24), two swimming pools (one of which can be drained and converted into a ballroom for dancing), several hot tubs, a cinema, an aquarium, a library, a private garden, three dining rooms, a gym with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, a small medical clinic and a disco hall. There is a 6 foot (1.83 metres) cinema screen in each guest room.

The roof opens on the 5,000 square feet (464.52 square metres) master suite to allow Abramovich and girlfriend Daria Zhukova, a former model, to sleep under the stars, according to some reports.

The ship with its nine decks requires a crew of 70, has a cruising speed of 22 knots and a maximum speed of 33 knots.

It surpasses the previous No. 1 private yacht in the world by 24.5 feet (7.47 metres). That yacht, the Dubai, is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai. It is now No. 2 at 532.5 feet (162.31 metres). It was built in 2006.

The Eclipse weighs 14,330 (299.37 tonnes) is 70.5 feet (21.49 metres) wide.

It was built in the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg, Germany, from early 2007 to mid-2009, under great secrecy and launched on June 12, 2009, tested in Denmark and Norway and delivered to Abramovich on December 9, 2010.

There has been considerable debate on the exact length of the Eclipse, but the 557 foot (169.77 metres) measurement is generally accepted by Forbes and other publications. A few places list 533 feet (162.46 metres). Abramovich's people won't comment, but the motor yacht is registered in Bermuda.

The Eclipse is the latest addition to Abramovich's private navy. He also owns the 163 feet (49.68 metres) Sussurro and the 374 feet (114 metres) Luna.

He gave his former yacht, Le Grand Bleu (the 18th-longest yacht in the world at 370 feet (112.78 metres)), to associate-friend Eugene Shvidler in 2006. He also sold the 282 feet (85.95 metres) Ecstasea to an Egyptian and gave the 377 feet (114.91 metres) Pelorus (No. 17 in the world) to ex-wife Irina in a 2007 divorce settlement.

Abramovich already owns the world's largest private jet, a Boeing 767 nicknamed the Bandit.

In St Maarten, Abramovich's giant was anchored near Hollywood director Steven Spielberg's new boat, the 282 foot (85.95 metres) Seven Seas.

The director of Jurassic Park, Jaws and the Indiana Jones movies acquired the sparkling blue yacht in late 2010 from a Dutch shipbuilder.

That boat, with a price tag of about $US200 million ($A198.25 million), includes an infinity pool with a glass wall on which movies can be projected and a theatre with a screen that is 15 foot (4.57 metres) by 6 foot (1.83 metres).

It offers room for 12 guests along with an owner's suite, a study, a lounge and a private exterior deck with a whirlpool. It is rich with walnut, teak and rosewood.

The bottom of the swimming pool, when drained, can be shifted upward to become a helicopter landing pad.

Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw, were photographed on the boat around Christmas, jet skiing at St Bart's in the Caribbean.

Spielberg's boat can travel at speeds of 20 knots and requires a crew of 26. It is also available for charter: The reported price is $US1.3 million a week.
