SAO PAULO, Brazil - Sebilah gunting besar tertinggal di dalam perut seorang wanita, Veronika Cruz selama tiga tahun selepas dia menjalani pembedahan, lapor sebuah akhbar kelmarin.

Gunting itu tertinggal semasa dia menjalani pembedahan untuk memindahkan ovarinya di sebuah hospital di sini.

Selepas pembedahan itu, dia mengadu terdapat sesuatu dalam perutnya sehingga mengakibatkan dia pengsan namun beberapa doktor menafikan dakwaan Cruz.

Namun, selepas ujian sinar X menunjukkan gunting tersebut, Majlis Perubatan Sao Paulo berjanji akan melakukan siasatan. - Agensi

NEWPORT BEACH, California 6 April - Jutawan Britain, Sir Richard Branson semalam mendedahkan hasratnya untuk mengemudi sebuah kapal selam 'terbang' mini ke dasar laut dalam satu lagi penjelajahan memecahkan rekod terbarunya.

Kapal selam Virgin Oceanic akan menyelami dasar paling dalam, di lima lautan di dunia, dalam satu cubaan memecah rekod yang julung-julung kali dilakukan, bermula dengan dasar paling dalam di perairan barat Pasifik tahun ini.

"Dengan kejayaan manusia yang telah lama menawan angkasa lepas, cabaran terbaru kita adalah menjelajah dasar lautan yang paling dalam.

"Saya rasa lebih ramai individu berjaya ke bulan berbanding berada 6,096 meter di bawah paras laut," kata Branson semasa memperkenalkan projek tersebut di Newport Harbor di sini, semalam.

Jutawan itu akan berkongsi tugas mengemudikan kapal selam berbentuk kapal angkasa itu dengan penjelajah Chris Welsh dalam lima jelajah yang akan dilakukan dalam tempoh dua tahun.

Sekiranya rancangan itu berjalan lancar dan ujian tekanan ke atas kapal selam itu berjaya, jelajah pertama yang dikemudikan Welsh akan dilakukan di Mariana Trench yang mempunyai kedalaman 11,033 meter di Lautan Pasifik tahun ini.

Jika misi itu berjaya dilaksanakan, ia akan menyamai pencapaian kapal tentera laut Amerika Syarikat (AS) iaitu Bathyscaphe Trieste yang pernah sampai ke Mariana Trench pada 23 Januari 1960.

Virgin Oceanic yang dilengkapi struktur seakan-akan sayap mampu 'terbang' sehingga 10 kilometer di atas dasar laut, beroperasi selama 24 jam dan boleh merakamkan hidupan marin yang tidak pernah dilihat. - AFP

BRIDGWATER, Britain - Ratusan penduduk kebingungan apabila mereka melihat satu makhluk ganjil terapung di Sungai Parrett di bandar ini, lapor beberapa buah akhbar semalam.

Ramai di antara mereka melihat kelibat makhluk itu dari sebuah jambatan pada Isnin lepas di bandar tersebut yang dihuni hampir 34,000 orang.

Penduduk kini membuat spekulasi mengenai identiti makhluk tersebut sama ada ia penyu, ikan lumba-lumba atau bangkai babi.

Terdapat beberapa orang yang melihat makhluk itu mengesyaki ia merupakan kacukan penyu dan babi.

Ada yang menganggap makhluk ganjil itu mungkin batu dan seekor anjing.

Spekulasi mengenai identiti makhluk tersebut juga dibincangkan di laman Twitter.

Seorang penduduk, Coral Pople memberitahu sebuah akhbar tempatan: "Saya sudah berada di sini selama 45 minit. Setiap orang menyatakan makhluk itu adalah seekor penyu tetapi pada pandangan saya ia kelihatan seperti seekor babi."

Menurut seorang lagi penduduk, Andrew Coles, dia berpendapat terdapat seseorang yang melompat ke dalam sungai dan khabar angin yang didengarinya menyatakan satu mayat berada di dalam sungai tersebut.

Makhluk itu dilihat tidak bergerak dan terapung di sungai tersebut dekat dengan pusat bandar ini.

Seorang jurucakap polis menyatakan pihaknya memang mengetahui terdapat sejumlah besar orang mengerumuni jambatan tersebut untuk melihat makhluk ganjil itu.

Taiwanese woman pays husband RM10K for sex

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 4 (ANI): A woman in Taiwan has revealed that she had to pay her husband about RM 10,000 to have sex with her.

According to the Nanyang Siang Pau, the woman, who is demanding a divorce from her husband, revealed to the municipal council in Taiwan that he had sex with her only three times in the last 10 years.

The woman, who brought along her 10-year-old daughter to the council, claimed that she paid to have sex with her husband on the third time, as she wanted to have a son.

"Not only does he not play his role as a husband, he also does not give us a monthly allowance. I have to support the family," the Star Online quoted the woman, who sells bean curd to support her family, as saying.

She said she wanted a divorce as she could not live with her husband anymore but he insisted she wait until their daughter turned 18.

"So I had to resort to this method to force him to divorce me," she added. (ANI)

A TEENAGER whose parents refused to buy her horse is over the moo-n — after teaching a cow to showjump.

Regina Mayer has spent hours training dairy animal Luna and can now ride her with equine ease.

Not only do the unusual pair regularly go on long rides through the German countryside, they also hurdle over makeshift jumps created with beer crates and painted logs.

Regina, who lives in Laufen, southern Germany, said of Luna: "She thinks she's a horse."

The pals started off with gentle walks after the animal was born on the Mayers' farm two years ago.

Gradually the brown-and-white beast became more accustomed to human contact and riding equipment.

And six months later, Regina was able to sit in her saddle for the first time.

Now, Luna understands commands such as 'go', 'stand' and 'gallop' — if she feels like it.

Regina said of her first ride: "She was really well behaved and walked normally. But after a couple of metres she wanted me to get off. You could see that she got a bit peeved."

"And she is often very headstrong but can also be really adorable."

Regina said Luna's stubborn streak meant teaching her pony tricks wasn't always easy.

But the persistent teenager took the bull by the horns and taught Luna to behave after seeking tips from a cow expert in Switzerland.
