He's snapped up two apartments at the posh One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge, West London, and will combine them to create the ultimate three-storey penthouse.

Akhmetov, 44, controls the Ukraine's System Capital Management steel and coal empire and is worth around £10billion. One Hyde Park has everything an oligarch could need, with cinema, pool, saunas and wine cellar.

Residents can also make use of 60 staff from the hotel next door. But they may feel lonely when they move in.

It's thought only half of the 80 homes have been sold after originally being advertised at £6,000 per square foot.

Akhmetov got his penthouse for just £5,456 per square foot. Now that's a billionaire's bargain!
