THIS teenager must have a splitting headache — after his skull was pierced with a sword.

The weapon's blade was embedded 5cm into Zhang Bin's forehead as he mucked about with friends at home.

The 15-year-old was rushed to a local hospital, but medics there were unable to treat him.

He then had to endure a four-hour drive to another hospital 250 miles away in Changsha, Hunan Povince, China.

Zhang said: "Three classmates came to visit me at home and one of them brought a sword.

"He stood 3-4m away from me. I don't know how the sword flew at me and stabbed into my head.

"I felt sharp pains and a large amount of blood streamed down."

Doctors rushed Zhang into surgery and the sword was removed during a four hour op.

The chief surgeon said: "Luckily the knife didn't touch the arteries in the skull and key nerves, otherwise it would have been a different story."

Zhang is expected to make a full recovery.

Saxena was born with 34 fingers and toes

A LITTLE boy stunned medics after being born with 34 fingers and toes.

One-year-old Akshat Saxena had seven fingers on each hand and ten toes on each foot — but no thumbs.

His condition is a genetic disorder known as polydactyl.

Akshat, from Uttar Pradesh, northern India, has since had surgery to remove the excess digits.

And doctors are trying to construct thumbs from the fingers they amputated.

Mum Amrita said: "I was so happy to see my baby as it was our first child. But later, when I saw his fingers, I was shocked and surprised."

Amrita later learned that her son had broken the world record for the child with the most fingers and toes.

The previous record holder was a six-year-old boy in China who had 15 fingers and 16 toes.

Amrita said a friend told her that Akshat was special.

She said: "He read on the internet about the baby born in China. Then he said that my boy has broken the record of having 34 fingers.

"At first I was not convinced at all. It was hard to believe that my son has broken the record.

"But later, he along with my husband and younger sister registered the data on the internet."

THIS balding, bug-eyed monkey sparked panic in a village when locals feared it was an ALIEN.

Housewife Mao Xiping raised the alarm after she found the malnourished creature stealing cucumbers from her flat.

She told cops it had "an alien face" and was unlike anything she had seen before.

They refused to believe her until she trapped it, took it to the police station in a washing basket - and demanded officers ARREST it.

Last night experts were examining the 1½ft creature to find out more about it.

The beast was so thin that its ribs could be seen through its flesh as it was inspected in Henan Province, central China.

Workmen scoured "HAMAD" into the sand on the orders of Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan.

The name is two miles across — with letters a kilometre high. It is so huge that the "H", the first "A" and part of the "M" have been made into waterways.

The mega-rich sheikh, 63 — a member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi — in the oil-rich United Arab Emirates — boasts a £14billion fortune that is second only to the Saudi king's.

His fleet of more than 200 cars — including seven Mercedes 500 SELs painted in different colours of the rainbow — is housed in a custom-built pyramid.

His name is etched on to an island he owns called Al Futaisi.

The billionaire's 533ft Eclipse, which has its own missile defence system and escape submarine, is the world's biggest private yacht — but at £750million it is a snip compared to this creation.

Stuart, 40, who took three years to build the History Supreme for a Malaysian businessman, said: "It was probably the most mammoth task ever."

Stuart — who also made a £5million diamond-wrapped iPhone — added: "I've covered all sorts of things in gold but this has got to be my most ambitious project yet. This will never be topped.

"The businessman just approached us and asked us whether we could do it. He wanted a plane doing as well, but the thing would never take off if we did.

"So he said, 'Can you do the yacht?' and I said, 'We'll give it a crack.' Then it was pretty much a case of can you make this gold, can you make that gold?

"We just did what we were told and are delighted with the result."

The yacht was built in Italy and completed in Malaysia two weeks ago.

The motor boasts wings that fold out in 15 seconds - and has been declared street legal in the US.

Twenty Brits have already contacted the American makers about buying one when they go on sale next year.

The £150,000 price of the wacky Terrafugia Transition is £85,000 less than a Rolls-Royce Phantom. Carl Dietrich, founder of the firm behind it, hailed his brainchild as the "first practical flying car".

He explained: "It can fold up its wings and drive on the road. It can gas up at a normal petrol station and park in a single-car garage. The Transition could bring a revolutionary new level of freedom to your world."

On the road the two-seater does 35 miles to the gallon and has a 65mph top speed. In the air it can reach 115mph, consuming five gallons an hour - giving it a 500-mile range. Drivers will need a pilot licence.

But the Civil Aviation Authority's Jonathan Nicholson reckons the cars could be a common sight here within five years thanks to the US giving approval. He said: "Safety standards are very similar between there and Europe."

Mansions of Powerful CEOs

In May 2011, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg bought a $7 million home in Palo Alto, Calif. He doesn’t move in for a few months, so the address remains a closely guarded secret until the current occupants move out. However, a few details have emerged -- the 5,000-square-foot home has five bedrooms, five bathrooms and a pool. It’s not quite on the same level as Bill Gates’ 50,050-square-foot Washington mansion, but it’s not a bad start for a man whose last few homes were rentals.

Zuckerberg’s new home is beyond the reach of the average person’s checkbook. However, it’s downright modest by the standards of some powerful American CEOs. Some of the biggest names in executive leadership live in extravagant mansions with 25 bathrooms, four-story guest homes and sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, all visible from a garden dotted with flora grown by celebrity botanist David Bellamy.

Like many tech giants, Apple CEO Steve Jobs lives in Northern California. When he’s not dreaming up the next generation of technological marvels, he relaxes in the 5,678-square-foot Palo Alto mansion that he calls home. Built in 1920, the single-family property is located on over half an acre of land, and has 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and one half bathroom.

Jobs was once the owner of a 17,000-square-foot mansion in Woodside, Calif. It was designed by architect George Washington Smith and built in 1925 for mining pioneer Daniel Jackling. In 2004, Jobs tried to have it demolished to make space for a new, contemporary home. After a dispute with local preservationists, the house was torn down in February 2011.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates is the richest man in America. He used to be the company’s CEO, but in 2000 he stepped down and handed the executive reins to Steve Ballmer. Don’t worry, though, Gates is still the software giant's chairman. He's also currently CEO of Cascade Investment, a holding company whose interests include Berkshire Hathaway, Coca-Cola and Microsoft.

Gates’ 50,050 square foot estate in Medina, Wash., has 8 bedrooms, 25 bathrooms and 6 kitchens. It also has a 1,000-square-foot dining room, a swimming pool that pipes in underwater music, and a domed library with concealed bookcases, according to Forbes magazine.

Michael Dell is the CEO of his namesake company, Dell, Inc. The second-largest PC manufacturer in the world, it sits at number 41 on the Fortune 500 list, and according to The Austin American-Statesman, almost half of the revenue taken in by the city of Round Rock, Texas, comes from sales taxes generated by the company’s headquarters, which are located there.

Dell lives in a residence befitting a man who has brought so much revenue to his state. Built in 1997 at the height of the tech boom, his 33,000-square-foot Austin mansion is located on 20 acres of land, and in addition to its 8 bedrooms and 8 full bathrooms, it has 13 half bathrooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a conference room.

Evan Williams is the founder and former CEO of Twitter, a social networking site that currently boasts well over 100 million users. He lives in the heart of San Francisco.

Williams recently relocated from a penthouse in the SoMa district to a property in the upscale Noe Valley neighborhood. The area is noted for its modern Victorian architecture, of which Williams’ home is a good example. When Michael Jackson died in June 2009, he was renting a 7-bedroom mansion for $100,000 a month. His landlord was Hubert Guez, better known as the CEO of the Ed Hardy brand, and even though Jackson was a mere tenant and not the homeowner, he was truly renting in style.

The mansion is located in Holmby Hills, an affluent Los Angeles neighborhood. It was built in 2002 and modeled after a French chateau. Guez bought it in 2004 for $18.5 million, and he originally listed it for $38 million. Despite the swimming pool, wine cellar, guest house and 12 working fireplaces, Guez simply couldn’t get a buyer at that price, and it was lowered to $28 million, and then $23.5 million. The listing remains active today.

SALES of luxury cars are soaring - as super-rich sports stars and celebrities ignore the economic slump to treat themselves to flash sets of wheels.

New figures show Rolls-Royce has had a record year so far, with sales zooming up by 64 per cent.

And Bentleys and Aston Martins are also being snapped up at showrooms across the UK.

Formula 1 giant McLaren has reported 1,000 orders for its new road-going 200mph MP4-12C, which costs £168,500.

The supercar surge comes as sales of more down-to-earth models have plummeted by a fifth overall - with 1.3million motorists said to have been forced off the road by high fuel costs.

Renault sales are 30 per cent down while Mazda, Honda, Fiat, Toyota and Kia have seen falls of more than 20 per cent. Ford is down nine per cent.

Roll-Royce's Marco Jahn said: "Our customers are people who buy a Rolls-Royce as a reward.

"They are successful sports people, young entrepreneurs and people who have built up a business over decades." Bentley's Mike Hawes said its sales are up 20 per cent - spurred by the popularity of the new Continental GT coupe costing £135,760. The convertible model is £182,100.

Mr Hawes said: "The thing that our customers have in common is that they are very wealthy individuals.

"They include successful businessmen, people in showbusiness and sports stars. Footballers are very well paid and they do seem to like our cars."

Recent Rolls-Royce buyers include Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, who bought a £200,500 Ghost model.

That was a bargain compared with the Phantom saloons, coupes and convertibles that cost up to £336,700. Tennis ace Andy Murray is among those to snap up a £125,000 Aston Martin DB9, helping to fuel a nine per cent sales surge.

Aston Martin's Matthew Clarke said the firm has weathered the recession that saw sales plunge from 7,281 in 2007 to just under 4,000 in 2009.

He said wealthy car fans have been able to afford supercars regardless of the credit crunch. But they fought shy of making ostentatious purchases during the worst of the economic downturn.

Mr Clarke added: "It is not good to be seen spending on luxuries during a recession."

The best example of the thriving luxury market was the sale last month of the last of 300 Bugatti Veyron supercars. The Veyron, the world's fastest road-legal car with a top speed of 268mph, went for £1.48million.

At the other end of the scale, car firms are simply hoping for better news in coming months.

Paul Everitt, of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, said: "Slow but steady growth in the second half of the year should see volumes increase."

It's Cashlands! City net £120m to rename stadium but may face probe

Manchester City will reinforce their standing as English football's wealthiest club by confirming an estimated £120million deal to rename their Eastlands ground the Etihad Stadium.

Though details of the stadium naming rights deal with City's shirt sponsors Etihad Airways were being kept under wraps, it is thought to be worth £10-12million a year over the next 10 years and is the most most lucrative deal in the club's history.

Changing brand: Manchester City are set to rename their Eastlands ground the Etihad Stadium

Changing brand: Manchester City are set to rename their Eastlands ground the Etihad Stadium

Concerns were immediately expressed over whether the deal might contravene UEFA's financial fair play guidelines, and City are likely to face an investigation.

Under the new rules, clubs have been warned about spending more than they earn and about sponsorship deals that may appear to be for inflated amounts.

If it is felt a figure has been fixed to give income levels an artificial boost, UEFA could step in and take action.

Back to work: Roberto Mancini oversees Manchester City training earlier this week

At more than double the amount Arsenal received for naming rights at The Emirates Stadium, City's deal may well raise eyebrows and is sure to be looked into by the Premier League. Checks will be made to ensure Etihad's outlay can be justified and that UEFA's guidelines have not been breached.

City have been exploring ways of generating extra revenue, to meet the criteria and enable their big spending to continue, and are delighted with the agreement they have struck with the United Arab Emirates' national airline.

Since acquiring City in September, 2008, Sheikh Mansour has ploughed close on £1billion into transforming their fortunes and competing on at least an equal footing with near rivals Manchester United.

Feeling Blue: City will claim Arsenal have undersold naming rights at Ashburton Grove

Feeling Blue: City will claim Arsenal have undersold naming rights at Ashburton Grove

It is understood City's heirarchy are unconcerned about any investigation by the Premier League or UEFA and confident they can satisfy all the fair play conditions.

They will argue that their increasingly high profile, and the exposure from worldwide media coverge, will equate to an acceptable return for Etihad's massive investment.

They could also claim Arsenal may have undersold naming rights at Ashburton Grove, when they struck a £100million-plus 15-year deal with Emirates in October, 2004.

Signed, sealed, delivered: Clichy arrived on a £7m deal from Arsenal earlier this month

Signed, sealed, delivered: Clichy arrived on a £7m deal from Arsenal earlier this month

That figure included around £48million for an eight-year shirt sponsorship agreement with Emirates and meant they were charging only around £4million a year for the new ground to be named after the airline.

City were always looking to go down the same path, after persuading Manchester City Council to let them sell naming rights last year, and were in no doubt they could attract significantly higher bidders.

Their new agreement with a company who already sponsor their shirts to the tune of £2.3million a year could prove telling in the new era of financial restraint, particularly after losses of almost £120million last year.

Gunning for a move: Nasri could follow former Arsenal team-mate Clichy to Man City in a £20m deal

Gunning for a move: Nasri could follow former Arsenal team-mate Clichy to Man City in a £20m deal

Such a deficit had to be addressed, and today's announcement will be seen as a significant step towards being able to continue the sort of spending that has become commonplace at Eastlands in recent years.

They are hopeful of landing £20million-rated Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri, after already paying Partizan Belgrade £6million for defender Stefan Savic and £7m for Arsenal defender Gael Clichy.

They are also being strongly linked with a £40million bid for Atletico Madrid frontrunner Sergio Aguero, also wanted by Real Madrid and Juventus.

McLaren has unveiled the latest iteration of its MP4-12C performance car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The British automotive brand unveiled the MP4-12C GT3 to the public June 30, after showcasing it to prospective team owners over the past couple of months.

The new model, a modified version of the MP4-12C, is being developed for GT3 racing next year — it is the first car McLaren has manufactured for racing outside of Formula 1 since the McLaren F1 GTR, which was produced until 2005.

McLaren’s MP4-12C GT3 uses a carbon-fibre chassis and sports some new features designed to optimize the vehicle’s aerodynamics, including a new front splitter, door blade, rear wing, diffusors and louvers in the front fenders.

It is powered by a 3.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine, with a six-speed gearbox controlled using paddles on the steering wheel, which is the same as that used by Lewis Hamilton in the MP4-24 Formula 1 car.

Although it’s going on sale to racing teams only sometime next year, visitors to Goodwood will be able to see it on the Festival of Speed’s famous hill climb, where vehicles will be in action through July 3.

The Manchester outpost opened June 30, while Birmingham will follow on July 6, ahead of various stores in Europe (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland) set to open this summer.
